Several media outlets have come out with reports following the testimony earlier in the week by the family of Newtown victims that one of the fathers was heckled by “gun nuts” during his remarks.
Neil Heslin, whose 6-year-old son Jesse Lewis was killed in the horrific Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, gave a powerful testimony that lasted approximately 15 minutes. At about 13 minutes in to his remarks, audience members interjected. However, whether or not the interjected comments were solicited is being debated.
In a clip aired by MSNBC, the video begins with Heslin saying, “Why anybody in this room needs to have one of these assault style weapons or military weapons, or high capacity clips … not one person can answer that question.” Then, Heslin can be seen looking around the room before cross-talk is heard among those in the room.
